Hi guys,
I have a customer that wants to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 to 2014, they have ECC 6.0 (No EHP) with Kernel 7.21 REL 64 Bits in Windows Server 2003.
Obviously they need to upgrade to Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 but then i have some doubts about the procedure to do the migration, what would be the ideal method for this?:
- An Standard Homogeneous System Copy on a new machine with freshly installed Windows 2012/ 2012 R2.
- Do a fresh installation with SWPM of ECC 6.0 on Win 2012/2012R2 with SQL Server 2014 and then restore source DB.
- Do fresh installation with SWPM of ECC 6.0 on Win 2012/2012R2 with SQL Server 2014 and then attach source DB.
This is my second time working with SQL, so this is why i have these doubts.
Thanks in advance for your insight and tips on this issue.
